The nice aroma doesn't occur until after kilning... and yes the smell is divine

When does the grain take on the malted smell? To me there is nothing like that malted grain smell in the car driving back from the cities. Mmmmmm baby!

I have the first 5 pounds of about 55 pounds of barley spread on roasting pans to sprout in my basement malt works. I plan to make it all into pale malt to use as a base malt for future brews.
