Where do you get most of your supplies?

Which store do you purchase homebrew supplies and equipment?
Re: Where do you get most of your supplies?
Most of my supplies have come from Northern Brewer. The prices were usually a bit higher, but I was always happy with how fresh everything was and the flat 7.99 shipping was attractive. Recently the flat rate shipping has gone away and I will be shopping around from here out.

I'd say 80% of purchases I make are Midwest. I like the AHA discount they offer. It's especially nice if you're in the store (10% in store, 5% online).
I take back my vote. I'm no longer recommending Midwest. I've had terrible delays in shipments and missing items from orders. That's the last straw.
Anyone else had problems with them lately?

All I can say is you guys must have some pretty lofty brewing goals. I brewed a 10 gallon batch of pilsner yesterday and used a measly 4 oz and that was on the high end for the style! Course I did use a little over 1lb in a IIPA recently!

Well... I don't want to provoke garage break-ins. LOL!
Can you get freezer padlocks?

This is all very interesting.

Other than that HopsDirect is another big money suck. Oh the hops. I just ordered a four more pounds on Friday. I think after having survived Hop Shortage 2007, I'm a bit of a hop hoarder now.

Is there a specific reason you prefer Northern's kits? I mean, is it taste of the finished product, or better ingredients, or available recipes, etc... I ask because I've thought about buying a kit from one of them, but just haven't done it yet. It would be nice to get a quick review from you. (or anyone else who has tried kits from both places)

Wind River was the name of the place I used to order from in the earliest days. Northern Brewer has gotten most of my cash since then. I tried Midwest a few times for extract kits, but found I liked NB's better.

Re: Where do you get most of your supplies?
You mean you used to have to send in your order by mail, too?! That must have took FOR EVER! Haha. Just kidding, I'm old enough to remember the "old days" too...just turned the big 40
My vote was for Midwest. Their selection is pretty good, and they are almost local. I've compared 3 or 4 identical orders between Midwest and Northern, and Midwest's lower prices alsways beat Northern's one price shipping. But, sometimes by only a couple bucks.
That being said, I only buy rhizomes and some equipment from Midwest. I do all my ingredient and common equipment shopping at Amazing Grains in Grand Forks. Real good people there, and they will order in anything for you. (Alex is the guy to talk to) Their prices are very close to the same as Midwest and the rest. (Often less when you consider there's no shipping to pay) So, I really should use them more. But sometimes I just can't wait and have to order online!

Which store(s) do you spend the most cash at? If its not listed, feel free to post it here ( I could only have 10 in the poll).
Please share your good reviews and bad reviews of brew shopping experiences.
